Vice- Chancellor

Professor Parimal H. Vyas stands as a distinguished figure in the landscape of Indian Higher Education, embodying a rare synthesis of profound academic scholarship and visionary administrative leadership. With a career spanning over three decades, he currently serves as the ‘Provost/Vice Chancellor’ of AURO University, Surat, a role he has held with distinction since September 2022. His journey is defined by a steadfast commitment to excellence, integrity, and the transformative power of value-based education.

Prior to his current tenure, Professor Vyas served for over 18 years at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (MSUB). His leadership culminated in a historic seven-year tenure as Vice Chancellor (2014–2022), during which he steered the institution toward unprecedented heights. Under his guidance, MSUB achieved a prestigious NAAC ‘A’ Grade and consistently earned accolades in global and national rankings, including the Times Higher Education and QS World University Rankings. He was instrumental in modernising the campus, indigenously developing an integrated e-governance framework (MSUIS) and establishing a Wi-Fi-enabled satellite campus network spanning 272 acres.

His administrative prowess extends beyond the university gates. Professor Vyas has been a pivotal figure in national educational governance, serving on Search Committees for Vice Chancellors across Gujarat and holding key positions on the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR). His expertise is frequently sought by the UGC and NAAC, where he has repeatedly served as a Peer Team Chairman.

As a scholar of Commerce and Business Management, Professor Vyas is an inspiring mentor who has successfully guided 20 Ph.D. and M.Phil. scholars.  His intellectual footprint is vast, comprising 142 research papers, 12 textbooks, and over 100 conference presentations. His contributions have been recognised with 14 Best Research Paper Awards, reflecting a career-long dedication to high-impact, socially relevant inquiry. He has also spearheaded 04  major UGC-funded research projects, reinforcing his status as a researcher of national repute.

Professor Vyas has been a tireless advocate for the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, organising over 4,500 activities and 24 Webinars to facilitate its implementation. His vision is deeply rooted in the Indian Knowledge System (IKS), seeking to harmonise ancient Bharatiya traditions with modern pedagogical innovations. He has played a crucial role in bringing Indian culture and educational administration to the forefront of international academic discourse, fostering collaborations that span 80 countries.

A “Student-Centric” philosophy characterises Professor Vyas’s leadership. He has championed the cause of making higher education equitable, accessible, and affordable, notably raising over ₹6 Crores to support 18,000 underprivileged students. In essence, Professor Parimal H. Vyas embodies professional integrity, administrative competence, and a passionate devotion to the vision of “Viksit Bharat@2047”. His life’s work continues to shape a techno-savvy, quality-centric, and ethically grounded future for the Indian academic community.
