AURO University, founded by the Rama family based in the USA, is inspired by the vision and teachings of Sri Aurobindo Ghosh and the Divine Mother. Its vision is to be a premier university of integral and transformational learning for future leaders.
AURO University has been established under the Gujarat State Private Universities Act, 2009, and is also recognized under Sections 2(f) and 22 of the UGC Act, 1956, and the Regulations, 2003.
AURO University is the only university in the country with an international hotel brand Courtyard by Marriott-functioning on the university campus. This successfully bridges the gap between industry and academia, providing hands-on experience to students across all 8 schools: the School of Business, School of Design, School of Hospitality and Management, School of Information Technology, School of Integral Education, School of Journalism & Mass Communication, School of Law, and School of Liberal Arts & Human Sciences.
AURO University has created the Sri Aurobindo Integral Life Centre, the soul of the university, to serve as a source of inspiration and learning for self-development and humanity’s evolutionary journey through integral and transformative education.
AURO University has state-of-the-art physical and information technology (IT) infrastructure. Following Sri Aurobindo’s vision, the university places equal emphasis on the four aspects of human development-mental, physical, vital, and spiritual.
In line with the vision of AURO University and the expectations of the Gujarat Private University Act, the University Grants Commission (UGC), the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), sports infrastructure of international standard has been developed as part of physical education.
AURO University’s sports facilities include a cricket ground, basketball court, volleyball court, football ground, lawn tennis court, and other open spaces for student activities, convocations, and other cultural and recreational events.
AURO University has set up various indoor sports facilities (carrom, table tennis, chess,
pool, snooker, etc.) and a well-equipped gymnasium-cum-fitness centre. AURO University has a meditation room, smart classrooms, computer laboratories, a language laboratory, a media laboratory, a design studio, workshops for fine arts, a student activity centre, and an exhibition room on the life of Sri Aurobindo. AURO University has also built modern boys’ and girls’ hostels with wide open spaces for various extracurricular activities, a high-tech automated library, and high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity across the university campus.
AURO University has also established various centres in the areas of arts and creativity, language learning, rural management, innovation, incubation and entrepreneurship, family business, and legal aid.
AURO University is pursuing NAAC accreditation and addressing various challenges in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, such as the registration of students under the National Academic Depository (NAD) and the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC).
About Surat
SURAT – the Diamond City of the World
The city of Surat has a glorious history that dates back to 300 BC. Surat is a city located in the western part of India, on the banks of the river Tapi, in the state of Gujarat. It is one of the most dynamic cities in India with one of the fastest growth rates due to immigration from various parts of Gujarat and other states of India.
Surat is the second cleanest city in India and is also known by several other names like “THE SILK CITY”, “THE DIAMOND CITY”, “THE TEXTILE CITY”, “THE GREEN CITY”, etc. It has the most vibrant presence and an equally varied heritage of the past. It is the city where the British first landed in India. The Dutch and the Portuguese also established their business centres in Surat, the remnants of which are still preserved in modern-day Surat. In the past, this was a glorious port with ships of more than 84 countries anchored in its harbour at any time.
Still today, Surat continues the same tradition as people from all around the country flock in for business and jobs. Surat has a practically zero per cent unemployment rate and jobs are easier to get here due to the very fast development of various industries in and around the city.
