Dr. Tina Dutta is working as Assistant Professor in the School of Business at Auro
University, Surat. By academic training, she is a statistician, a demographer and a social
science researcher. She is a Fellow (PhD) from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta
(2016); M.Phil in Population Studies from International Institute for Population Sciences,
Mumbai (2007-09); and Masters in Statistics from Banaras Hindu University (2005-07). She
is UGC-NET-JRF in Population Studies (2008).
Dr. Tina has vast experience in teaching and research field. Throughout her academic tenure,
she has been actively involved in teaching and curriculum-development of subjects such as,
Business Statistics, Quantitative techniques and data analysis, Business Analytics,
Econometrics, Time-series modeling and forecasting, Data Science using Python, Data
Visualization and Analytics using Power BI, Research Methodology, Operation Research,
Value added courses on SPSS, and STATA.
She is equally vibrant in research in the area of labour migration, gender, public health and
mathematical demography. Currently, she has two ABDC-B category journal article
publications, two book chapters in Sage and Routledge publications, and other publication in
UGC certified journal.
She has been also contributing to various Faculty Development Programmes and student-
level workshops primarily in the area of data visualization and analytics using various
software. The recent ones were held with Allahabad university in December, 2020 and with
IIPS, Mumbai in February 2021.
Dr. Tina is a passionate learner too. She has completed seven technical training courses from
institutions such as University of Michigan and University of Pennsylvania (through
Coursera) with high grades. She has attended numerous FDPs and workshops, such as, FDP
on “Machine Learning” in IIM Bangalore, “Case Method Workshop” in IIM Calcutta,
“NVIVO for Qualitative Research” in IIM Calcutta, “Summer School on Econometrics” in
IIM Calcutta, and Workshop on “Emerging Areas in Applied Statistics” in Indian Statistical
Institute, Kolkata.
She is recipient of two prestigious Gold Medals: Dr. C Chandrasekaran Gold Medal for being
topper in Master of Population Studies (course-work phase of M.Phil) and the coveted Dr. P
N Mari Bhat Gold Medal for the best M.Phil dissertation in IIPS, Mumbai. She received full
funding from the Migration Policy Centre, European University Institute, Florence, Italy, to
attend the “IX Migration Summer School: Theories, Methods and Policies” held in Florence,
Italy during June 17-28, 2013.
