Dr. Surendra Sundararajan is Professor of Finance at the Faculty of Management Studies at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. His educational background consists of post-graduate degrees in Economics, Business Administration and Law, followed by a doctorate in Finance. Early in his career, he was a Lecturer in Finance at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, USA. On his return to India, he worked for some years in the Corporate Finance Division of Asea Brown Boveri Ltd., before returning to academia. He again returned to teach at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater during the academic year, 2001-02.
Dr. Sundararajan has published research papers in reputed refereed journals and has authored a successful book on financial terminology, published by Tata McGraw Hill. His past and current affiliations as a Visiting Faculty include the National Academy of Indian Railways, Vadodara, National Institute of Securities Markets, Navi Mumbai, Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai and S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai. He has also served as a SEBI Nominee Director and an Independent Director on the boards of organizations and as a member on the advisory boards of some educational institutions. Notably, he successfully solicited a donation for a new Management Development Centre, viz., Trivenidevi Kashinath Agrawal Management Development Centre, in his faculty at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, constructed in 2006 at a cost of about Rs. 28 lakhs. In September 2010, he received an award for outstanding teaching in the area of Financial Management, from the Higher Education Forum. In November 2010, he received the Dewang Mehta Business School Award for “Best Teacher in Financial Management”.
