Dr. Vrushti Patel (Assistant Professor)

Dr. Vrushti Patel is working as an assistant professor at School of Law, Surat since 2015. She did her Legum Baccalaureus (Bachelor of Laws) from V.T. Choksi Sarvajanik Law College, Surat and Legum Magister (Master of Laws, Criminal-Law Group) from Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat. She has also completed her Doctorate of Philosophy in Law from the same university. Her doctoral research is on Euthanasia and her research titles as Right to Life and Freedom to Die- A Study of Juridical Responses to Euthanasia in the Idiom of Human Rights. She qualified Gujarat State Eligibility Test (Law) in 2016. 

She has to her credits various expert and advanced certifications including Expert Certification in Human Rights & Duties from Indian Academy of Law and Management, Certification in Trial Advocacy and Criminal Litigation from West Bengal National University of Juridical Services, Advanced Certification in Forensic Science and Criminology from International Forensic Sciences, Certificate in Advanced Criminal Law and Procedure from Gujarat National Law University. Right from her under graduation years, she had a strong inclination towards mooting and litigation. She had participated in my moot court competitions and bagged winner’s trophy (twice) for her college and 2 individual prizes for her outstanding performance in mooting (Best Student Advocate). 

She started her career as an advocate at The District and Sessions Court, Surat under abled guidance of eminent trial lawyer Advocate Kirit C. Panwala in 2008. She has handled many criminal cases during her career. She specializes in the cases dealing with criminal litigation. She is very passionate about Criminal law and its branches. Having strong proclivities towards teaching, she joined academia in 2014. Before joining AURO University, she worked at V.T. Choksi Sarvajanik Law College, Surat. Her area of interest is Criminal Law (Substantive as well as Procedural Law), Forensic Science, Medical Jurisprudence, Criminology, Alternative Dispute Redressal, Constitutional Law, Legal Aid and Community Development. She has also volunteered in many Lokadalats and Legal Awareness Camps.

She has participated in many conferences, seminars, workshops and symposiums and presented papers. She  has few publications in the Journals of National and International repute. She is also on editorial board of many reputed Law Journals. 

She was invited as an expert speaker at All Gujarat Women CA Conference on Women Rights, 2014 organized by Surat branch of WIRC ICAI. She has also successfully trained batches of police officers recruited at various posts in the Gujarat Police Department in a training workshop organized by AURO University.

She is the Convenor of AURO Legal Aid and Community Development Centre from 2016 and is actively involved in social engineering activities. She joined law with an ambition to make a difference in the society and considers teaching law as the most satisfying job.

She was invited as keynote speaker at All Gujarat Women CA Conference on Women Rights, 2014 organized by Surat branch of WIRC ICAI. She has also attended and participated in Few Faculty Development Programs as well UGC Orientation Programs for university teachers. She has successfully trained batches of police officers recruited at various posts in the Gujrat Police Department in a training workshop organized by Auro University.
