Prof Janet Wilson

“During my stay at AURO, I taught classes to liberal arts students, discussed with staff topics relating to precarity and poverty, and attended several university-based events. I found the students to be lively and motivated, especially in the way they organised outdoor concerts, plays and other activities. A feature of the visit was the ‘Beyond the Postcolonial’ three-day workshop, reflecting a shared interest with the Vice Chancellor, Professor Avadhesh Kumar Singh, traceable to my first visit to Gujarat a decade ago. This event brought together Auro staff, students and visiting scholars for lectures, talks and discussions. The synergies created by these Auro contacts through classes and conventions, and the prospect of future exchanges, made this a stimulating and richly rewarding visit.”

Dr Richard Brown

“My visit to Auro in July was a very positive one. The new University has an exciting ambitious plan for the future, a new campus in historic Surat, with luxurious visitor hospitality and great transport links to Mumbai and Delhi. I was honoured to be invited to give the first in a Distinguished Visiting Lecture series on Reading Literature Today, a vital subject close to my research and teaching concerns and those of any university. Auro provided a special context for thinking about these important questions and the assembled audience of colleagues and students, including Vice-Chancellor Professor A.K. Singh, gave me inspiration and fascinating questions to take my thinking further.”

Dr Swati Sathaye

“My daughter joined the innovative, and rewarding Liberal Arts and Sciences programme in 2018. The curriculum is flexible yet demands that the students put the Liberal Arts into practice. The teachers are understanding and encouraging. My daughter is more confident now and I couldn’t be happier seeing the transformation that took place. Thank you, AURO.”

Dr Nayan Tank
