The intention of the course is to introduce the techniques to understand camera and Photography. The course aim is to develop the understanding of once own surrounding by looking into space, shape and people. Photographs are more than just snapshots. When taken the right way, they become dramatic personal statements with the power to last forever. They can transport you to distant landscapes, capture fleeting emotions, recall cherished memories, reveal the beauty of daily life, and even change the world.

* Students are expected to have / borrow computer & dSLR camera for weekly practice / work and should have internet access for regular uploads / info / queries / solutions / discussion etc.

Unit 1 : Controlling Camera :
Digital technology advantages & limitations – Taking advantage of different sensors – What in history? – On camera modes – Controlling camera for the ideal light & the right moment, managing Aperture, Shutterspeed & ISO – Camera Lenses & their characteristics

Unit 2 : Developing Vision :
Photography : A philosophy – Art of ‘Seeing’ & Presenting – Basic Composition rules – Getting the ideal light & right moment – Various photography genre

Unit 3 : Post-Processing :
Setting up the computer for Photography – Software – Calibration – File types & archival techniques – Photoshop basics to correct light, contrast, colours, size & sharpness – Ethics of Post-processing

Unit 1 : Controlling Camera
Setting up camera to suit your need & creativity / originality – Advance camera controls for spontaneous reaction – Choosing the right Lens – Shooting in RAW – Using additional light & set-up

Unit 2 : Pre-visualisation & Visualisation
Advance Composition rules & ‘seeing’ beyond the rules – Art of visualisation & execution of concept – Colour theory – Colour vs Monochrome – Monochrome conversion – Pushing creativity / originality – Developing style & breaking free

Unit 3 : On the Computer :

Advance post-processing techniques for professional touch – RAW conversion – Working on Layers – Working for practical photo applications & design
