AURO University, Surat will organize the first lecture under the AURO Public Lecture Series
AURO Public Lecture Series was organized on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami on February 10, 2019 at Science Center, Citylight from 10:30 AM for the erudite members of the city of Surat to meet the best minds of India. The speaker for its 1st Public Lecture was Prof. R Vaidynathan, Former Professor of finance and control at IIM Bangalore. His topic for the public talk was “Global Economic Crisis- Prospects for India”.
After the pious rendition of Guru vandana, Dean Dr. Rohit Singh welcomed the guests and explained the vision and mission of AURO University with different aspects of teaching and learning for academic progress. He also explained the four aspects of education and twelve core values on which the ethos of AURO University is laid. He briefly mentioned different schools, programs, specializations and scholarships offered by AURO University. Inaugural Remarks were made by Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Avadhesh Kumar Singh. He explained that AURO Public Lecture series is a humble endeavor for the purpose of creation, application and dissemination of knowledge and new ideas. He also announced the opening of two new schools namely School of Education and School of Sciences in the forthcoming academic year. Further, Dr. Meghna Dangi introduced Dr. R. Vaidynathan and elucidated his experience, achievement and expertise.
Dr. R. Vaidynathan started his speech on a light note and with gratitude to all the listeners. He discussed the changes and transformation in teaching-learning methods. He discussed how the rest of the world, especially Europe was under tremendous crisis and how this could be a great Opportunity for India. He mentioned that India was among the world’s top economies till 1820 and hence he coined the term “Re-emerging economy” for India. With well researched analyses of GDP, PPP, Debt percentages, government borrowings he mentioned the importance of household savings, age old family values and need of our own indicators to shape our economy rather than depending on any western model. In his signature simple, lucid and humorous style, he busted the myths of employment, savings, share market, gold as Investment Avenue and FII & FDI. The Session was opened for interaction with the audience wherein some interesting deliberations took place. Head of School of Business Dr. Monika Suri felicitated the Guest with a memento and the “Life Divine” by Sri Aurobindo and Registrar Mr. Ajay Yadav made an expression of Gratitude to the Guest for his insightful lecture and gracious presence. AURO University is committed in making an attempt to enhance academic ambience and stimulate intellectual vitality of Surat with the AURO Public Lecture Series.
