About the Promoters
The humble beginnings of JHM Hotels can be traced back more than three and a half decades. Mr. Hasmukh (H.P.) Rama went from India to the U.S.A. in 1969 to pursue a Master of Business Administration. His first job was that of a dishwasher in a Howard Johnson motel. Shortly after, he got his first promotion - he became a waiter. In 1973, he purchased his first property: the 37 - room Sunset Motel in Ponoma, California.
His brothers soon joined him to create a family business that has since grown to be among the top 50 Hotel Management companies in the U.S. Over the last 37 years, the Rama family has built and acquired 79 hotels. The company currently owns 42 hotels with over 7,200 rooms in India and the U.S., which operate under top-performing franchise flags such as Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, and Starwood.

JHM has, in the last few years, begun to diversify its business interests in India with a focus on hospitality, education and real estate, particularly in the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra. Besides being the promoting company of Auro University, education has been at the core of the Corporate Social Responsibility commitment of JHM Hotels. The Company has created The Rama Scholarship for the American Dream, which has benefited more than 350 students pursuing careers in hospitality management.
